I got a good email from a dentist over the weekend I want to highlight for you. If one dentist took the time to write this, that means there are thousands who are thinking the same thing.
Here’s what he sent [I removed his name…]:
This sounds like so many spiels I’ve experienced in the past. It’s full of pie in the sky promises and zero content. There’s no reason your $1500 seminar is any different than the other hucksters preying on a vulnerable demographic—the stressed out dentist. Unless you can actually get insurance to pay full bore for the OAT appliances I would prescribe, there’s nothing you can do to impact my practice in a positive way. Either give me some sign you’re not full of it or leave me alone.
Sincerely,
Dr. X
The first thing to notice is that this guy is stressed. Stressed out dentists write messages like this. They do it, not because they’re jerks, but because stress is a terrible thing. I was one of these guys years ago. The stress can make you snap if you don’t deal with it soon enough.
So here’s my response to Dr. X and probably a few thousand other dentists reading this:
I appreciate you mentioning the “hucksters preying on stressed out dentists.” I have no idea if they do it on purpose or not. What I DO know is that dentists are being led down dead ends by “sleep experts” almost every single weekend of the year.
Dr. X, if you want to see proof that we’re different, come to an Intro Event and you’ll get a booklet of EOBs and the amounts that were paid that show you the proof you’re asking for.
The whole POINT of the Dental Sleep MBA™ program is to do exactly what you ask about:
The reason our members are successful is BECAUSE we have mastered the medical insurance process. You will not learn how to do this on the scale we do it ANYWHERE ELSE.
Unfortunately, there are so many misconceptions about how this business works, and so many sleep experts out there teaching who’ve never experienced ANY real success in sleep, that poor dentists are basically getting led around by the blind.
Finally…whether or not we ever meet Dr. X., please understand that YOU, the dentist, NEVER prescribes an oral appliance. You can’t do that. You won’t get paid for it. And you could get in far more trouble than that. I only mention it because you did.
I can guarantee that you coming to an Introduction to Dental Sleep MBA™ course will completely change the way you look at dental sleep medicine FOREVER.
